It is situated in the pretty village of Gilcrux, which has a pub serving good food, a restaurant and a trout farm immediately behind the cottage, where fishing is available. Gilcrux is close to the Gem town of Cockermouth, 4 miles from the sandy beach at Allonby and 4 miles from the Lake District National Park.
