Situated on the Isle of Skye, the village of Balmaquein is situated between Duntulm and Flodigarry, where Flora McDonald famously helped Bonnie Prince Charlie to escape from his pursuers by dressing him as a woman. This stunning island has a wide array of visitor attractions, such as the Skye Museum of Island Life, Dunvegan Castle and the Aros Centre. Portree, the Island’s capital is set around a natural harbour and is full of shops, hotels and restaurants. With the Skye Bridge now in place, access to the mainland is easy, but for those wishing to take the 'Bonny Boat' to Skye, a ferry still runs throughout the summer months.
