The tranquil village of Chapeltown is situated off the coast of the Iveragh Peninsula in County Kerry, on Valentia Island. This quiet community is accessible by ferry from Reenard Point, or by the road bridge at Portmagee. A selection of Irish pubs, restaurants, entertainment and local shops can be found at the main village of Knightstown, from where you can also take a number of sightseeing boat trips and fishing trips. Renowned for its spectacular 'Fogher' sea cliffs which rise from the Atlantic Ocean on the northern side, the Island is also famous for the unique subtropical gardens at Glanleam House, a must see for all visitors to the area. The Skelligs Experience Centre which explains the history of the Skelligs Rocks, the bird life, and the life under the seas must not be missed. Unspoiled beaches, cycling and walking opportunities, angling, diving, and boat trips are all on offer at Valentia Island.
