Chirk is small town which offers a variety of shops, pubs, restaurants, golf course and marina but is best known for the famous 13th century Chirk Castle and gardens, now run by the National Trust, as well as the wonderful 70-foot-high Chirk Aqueduct built by Thomas Telford. Close by, the Vale of Llangollen, with its dramatic mountain backdrop and boulder-strewn River Dee, is the setting for Llangollen.
