Glencar is located in the centre of the region of Kerry otherwise known as "The Kingdom". Glencar is a nature lover's paradise surrounded by the mountain range Macgillycuddy Reeks, with Carrantouhill, Ireland's highest mountain, towering overhead. With hundreds of acres of forests and numerous lakes such as Lickeen Forest, Caragh River and Caragh Lake, Glencar offers wonderful scenery and great walking and angling opportunities. The village is home to 3 pubs including The Climbers' Inn, which offers good food and drink along with a post office and food store. The pretty town of Killorglin is within easy reach, the gateway to the Ring of Kerry, offering a variety of cafes, pubs and restaurants, while an abundance of sandy beaches and golf courses are within easy driving distance.
