Just 12 miles south of York are the pretty Yorkshire villages of North Duffield and Skipwith. Each village has a lovely green with pond and a traditional country pub and is composed of a mixture of old red brick and modern houses. Skipwith’s church dates back to the Anglo Saxon times, whilst the North Duffield equivalent is a 19th Century Methodist chapel. Ideal for escaping all the stresses and strains of modern life, these peaceful little settlements are within easy driving distance of a 1000-acre nature reserve and Skipton common, making this a fabulous location for bird-watchers. The market town of Selby is just seven miles away and boasts a beautiful abbey, whilst York Minster is also within easy driving distance and has park and ride facilities to make getting in and out of the city easier.
