Runswick Bay in North Yorkshire is a great place to head for a self catering short break or holiday... there is so much to see and do. Click here to find out more »
One of the gems of the East Coast is the lovely Runswick Bay. With its narrow cobbled streets and quaint cottages, this picturesque old fishing village nestles in a small bay just nine miles from Whitby. Backed by spectacular cliffs and moorland scenery, this is not a typical tourist spot – cars have restricted access to the village which makes it an ideal place to relax and unwind without the sights and sounds of the modern world. Reached via cobbled, twisting alleyways, visitors can enjoy the lovely sandy beach - well known for fossil hunting - and various cliff-top walks including the Cleveland Way. Local amenities within Runswick Bay are plentiful and include three local inns, all serving food, and one tea-room. A village shop is provided by nearby Hinderwell.
